Leucus Occultation 2018-11-14 (G* = 16.0)

Here's an image taken on practice night with the OCC profile and the camera installed in standard orientation. It is rotated 180 degrees from the other finders below.

The interactive map below shows our final prediction for the stellar occultation by (11351) Leucus on 2018 November 14 UT. The prediction is based on a Gaia DR2 position for the star and the v20181016172445c orbit estimate for Leucus. This orbit includes all astrometry up through October 2017.

Geocentric mid-time of the event is 03:04:54 UT. The time at Tucson is 03:08:00 UT (20:08:00 local time). Star position is RA 20:40:51.6, Dec -07:13:22 (J2000), and its magnitude is 15.75. We will collect data for a total of 10 minutes centered on event time. Leucus is moving at 19 km/s with respect to the star and its diameter is estimated to be 45 km, so central chords are expected to last 2.4 seconds. Leucus' magnitude is predicted to be 18.8 at event time, so it will be 16 times fainter than the star.

The finder below was provided by Jerry Bardecker, and has the target and orientation labeled. Its field of view is approximately 14 x 11 arcmin.

Below is a DSS image with a 40 x 40 arcmin field of view. The target and orientation are again labeled, as is the approximate field of view of the above finder.
